Prior Experience Leads to Mentorship

I am certified in Revit and AutoCad, and I am highly proficient in SketchUp, as well.  Because I have been using these programs for more than 5 years (I started using SketchUp when I was very young) I felt that the class syllabus was not enough of a challenge, which can sometimes lead to a lack of interest or urgency, but I wanted to get the most out of the class that I could.  I believe that you haven't truely mastered something until you can teach it, so I used my time in class to mentor another student and help them with their project while doing my own.  This certainly cut down on the time I had to complete my project, but it gave me an opportunity to practice good time management.

Pushing Myself

I recognize the need for affordable, sustainable housing, especially due to the impact inflation and drought have had on my home in central Texas.  I took it upon myself to create a structure that would help solve some of the struggles we see in the Texas Hill Country, including the high heat and frequent water restrictions. My attention to the real life materials I wanted to use, and the consideration of impact on the homeowner were pivotal in my final designs.
